Mr. Abdulrahman Allangawi is a Research and Teaching Assistant in the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, University of Bahrain, and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. His research focuses on electrocatalysis, CO₂ conversion, water splitting, and the development of catalytic materials for sustainable energy technologies. His work is centered on understanding and improving electrochemical reactions relevant to the synthesis of value-added chemicals and clean energy conversion. He combines electrocatalysis principles and material chemistry fundamentals with operando and computational mechanistic investigation to study how catalyst composition, structure, and surface environment influence activity, selectivity, and stability. To support and interpret experimental findings, he employs advanced operando spectroscopy and computational modeling approaches, including operando FTIR, density functional theory, constant-potential modeling, and ab initio molecular dynamics, enabling deeper insight into reaction pathways and catalyst–interface behavior. His outstanding scientific contributions resulted in 20+ publications in high-impact Q1 journals, most of which he contributed as the first author, earning an H-index of more than 10 early on in his career. - - - Selected publications:Areas of Expertise
