FACULTY BIO

Dr. Qaisar Mahmood Joined University of Bahrain in January 2022. Earlier he has been working as Professor of Environmental Sciences in COMSATS University, Pakistan. His Bachelor and master’s degrees are in Botany and then he got PhD in Environmental Engineering from Zhejiang University China in 2007 and Post Doctorate from University of Kentucky, USA as Fulbright Visiting Scholar (2012-13). He has a vast teaching experience of twenty-six years in life sciences, environmental sciences and engineering in application of living process biochemistry for the environmental remediation of toxic metals, dyes, inorganic and organic pollutants. He was Distinguished Foreign Professor of Biology at Huanghuai University China during 2020-21. His research experience includes area like phytoremediation of toxic metals, dyes and anaerobic treatment of domestic and industrial wastewaters through processes like denitrification, Anammox and related biotechnologies. He published >300 research articles with cumulative impact factor of >600 with >11700 citations (h-index = 58).  He was conferred with Best University Teacher Award by HEC, Pakistan (2009), Medal of Excellence in Science (Tamgha i Imtiaz) (2011), and Gold Medal in Earth and Environmental Sciences by Pakistan Academy of Sciences in 2016. He is editor of various international research journals and Publication Chair for Agriculture and Biology Conference for years 2015 and 2016. Recently he edited a book for Springer Nature named as Sustainable Plant Nutrition under Contaminated Environments in 2022.
