PROGRAM LEVEL

The B.Sc. in Biology is an undergraduate program consisting of 132 credit hours covering a wide range of fields, such as cellular biology, applied microbiology and biotechnology, plant science, marine biology, molecular biology and genetic engineering, human and animal physiology, nutrition, and zoology. It is designed to provide students with the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they have gained through practical laboratory work, field investigations, and research projects. This program equips students with the essential knowledge and skills needed to explore the complexities of living organisms and their interactions with the environment. Graduates are prepared for diverse career paths in research, education, healthcare, environmental conservation, biotechnology, and further academic pursuits at national, regional, or international institutions in areas such as life sciences, public health, medical sciences, and environmental studies. Moreover, graduates holding a B.Sc. in Biology can obtain a license as medical laboratory technicians from the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The B.Sc. in Biology received accreditation from the German agency ASIIN for the period 2019-2024 and was awarded confidence status by the BQA in 2023. In addition, the B.Sc. in Biology was placed at level 8 in the National Qualifications Framework in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2018. The B.Sc. program in Biology was revalidated and maintained its status on the National Qualifications Framework.
