ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1979 as one of the main academic departments at the University College of Bahrain for Arts, Sciences, and Education. Following the merger of the University College with Gulf Polytechnic in 1986 to form the University of Bahrain, the Department of Mathematics became part of the newly formed College of Arts and Sciences. In 1990, the College of Arts and Sciences was split into the College of Arts and the College of Science, with the Department of Mathematics becoming part of the latter.
The Department of Mathematics is a major center for mathematical research and education in the Kingdom of Bahrain. By 2024, the Department had a total enrollment of 897 students across three undergraduate programs. It serves around ten thousand students every year and features recognized faculty with outstanding accomplishments in teaching, research, and service. Currently, there are 17 full-time faculty members, one teaching and research assistant, one administrative staff member, and a small number of part-time teaching staff.

These programs consists of strong curriculums that introduces students to the areas of real and complex analysis, number theory, abstract algebra, topology, logic, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, financial mathematics, actuarial science.
In addition, the department offers courses in mathematics and statistics that serve the needs of other disciplines across the university
OUR FACULTY
The Department of Mathematics has 17 faculty members. The Department of Mathematics has an active research faculty. Faculty members conduct research in the areas of algebra and number theory, geometry, combinatorics, applied mathematics, quantum information processing, differential equations, statistics, financial mathematics, and other fields.
