ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1979 as one of the main academic departments at the University College of Bahrain for Arts, Sciences, and Education. Following the merger of the University College with Gulf Polytechnic in 1986 to form the University of Bahrain, the Department of Mathematics became part of the newly formed College of Arts and Sciences. In 1990, the College of Arts and Sciences was split into the College of Arts and the College of Science, with the Department of Mathematics becoming part of the latter.
The Department of Mathematics is a major center for mathematical research and education in the Kingdom of Bahrain. By 2024, the Department had a total enrollment of 897 students across three undergraduate programs. It serves around ten thousand students every year and features recognized faculty with outstanding accomplishments in teaching, research, and service. Currently, there are 17 full-time faculty members, one teaching and research assistant, one administrative staff member, and a small number of part-time teaching staff.

OUR FACULTY
The Department of Mathematics has 15 national and international faculty members with different academic ranks. All of whom are graduated of renowned universities and possess extensive experience in teaching and scientific research across fields such as algebra and number theory, geometry, combinatorics, applied mathematics, quantum information processing, differential equations, financial mathematics, applied, and computational statistics, data science, and actuarial science. The faculty is actively engaged in community service such as delivering specialized workshops and offering scientific consultations to a range of sectors in the society.
