ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Chemistry was established in 1978 and is a major center for chemical research and education in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Department of Chemistry offers knowledge and skills in different areas of chemistry like analytical, organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. These fields qualify graduates to pursue a career in governmental, industrial, and private sectors. Opportunities are also available in areas such as sales, marketing, consultancy, management of laboratories, health and safety, and environmental sciences. The Department of Chemistry maintains several instruments for research and teaching purposes to provide a wide range of chemical analyses. Undergraduate research is fully supported by the faculty in all the major fields of chemistry: analytical, environmental, inorganic, organic and physical.
OUR PROGRAMS
The Department of Chemistry offers core and elective courses in different areas of chemistry like analytical, organic, physical, inorganic, and environmental chemistry. In addition, The Department of Chemistry offers services to other colleges and to other specializations within the College of Science programs.
OUR FACULTY
The Department of Chemistry has 21 faculty members. The faculty members are active in different research areas like synthesis and characterization of organic and inorganic compounds, electroanalytical techniques, water treatment, environmental and molecular toxicology, polymeric hydrogels, nanocomposites, corrosion chemistry, and computational chemistry.
